I know, I know, EVERYBODY thinks their kids are the GREATEST....well I don't think that ;) but I do think they are pretty cool :). Being twins you sorta expect them to be "connected" but mine are fraternal and one has autism so I never really thought the connection was that great. But then a moment like today happens and it makes be rethink and look closely at the two of them...together.. They spend an exorbitant amount of time together, especially this summer. They sleep together, play together and are basically together most days. So today we (they) are jumping together on the trampoline...
and it hits me... Wow they really are connected!! And not just because they are jumping together but because it hits me that they never really complain about each other. Neither ever walks away from the other and says "I hate him" or "I wish I didn't have a brother" or worse. Cole is the most patient kid I know. REALLY. And Drew REALLY tries so hard to relate to his brother. Autism is hard. Being 8 can be hard. Having a brother with autism must sometimes really suck...I know as the MOM it does...sometimes. Not a lot, just a little :) But yet through it all they are still very connected. As I watch them jump today, together, Cole yelling out directions to Drew; Drew trys to follow as closely as he can, they never really get mad at each other even though it is going exactly as they plan.... Cole yells "jump", Drew sits! Cole says "run!" Drew jumps, laughing the entire time because he KNOWS he is doing the exact opposite of what Cole wants him to do :) They laugh, they fall, they yell at little more...but never disconnect :) My boys are amazing... I know, I know...ugh, gag, puke...please.. I know, I know!! But now as I listen to them in the shower together, playing, laughing, probably not really washing themselves but having a blast even after spending an entire day together, I am again reminded how amazing and connected they really are...
Oh and btw... my dogs are pretty connected too ;)
