I think my kids are pretty wonderful...I know, I know... what parent doesn't (well most of the time!). But don't we all have days, moments when we are smacked in the face with it..(the wonderful stuff that is!)?
Cole is this amazing computer wiz.. I mean AMAZING!! He tells me things (like I know what he's talking about. NOT) and 90% of the time I just nod my head, smile and say "cool"... His knowledge is WAAAAAy over my head.
But this is his passion and I must foster it (even if I feel like he is speaking another language!) And I know he will do great thing with it!
And Drew, Drew seems to be blooming into a wonderful artist. He has always admired art. Picasso and Van Gogh being his favorite. Lately he has been drawing, coloring, painting... his attention to details are incredible ....
I had one of those "smack ya in the face" kinda wonderful moments this morning. Drew crawled into my bed. Curled up next to me, rubbed my back, played with my hair, wrapped his arms around me.... I remember a time way back when Drew was first diagnosed with autism...I never knew if he would feel "typical" connections to people...I am THRILLED he does! Cole came in next... 2 kids, 2 dogs and ME. Cole is and has always been a snuggler...So here I lay, both my boys, one on either side of me, enjoying a wonderful morning (while being smacked in the face with their wonderfulness!)... And Drew begins to sing... "I see trees of green..red roses too..I see em bloom..for me and for you...And I think to myself..what a wonderful world..."

Cole is not big on saying 'I love you'...never has been. Drew on the other hand says it ALL the time :-). But Cole is big on random hugs and kisses (I'll take that!). The other day I got one of those...random hugs... and a "You smell so good!" Super sweet kid huh?? So this morning as I was getting ready, putting on my "smell" (I have pretty much been wearing the same sh*t since HIGH SCHOOL!). Layers of egyptian musk, patchouli, stuff to cover up my stink since we all know I don't DO antiperspirant... etc
And it hit me... how strong a memory smell is. Will my "smell" follow my kids around forever?? I remember how my Dad smelled :-)
... And when he comes to me in a memory it is usually his smell. Like when I was driving his old Civic shortly after he died, going to look at the house I ended up buying (and still living in 15 YEARS later), running my hand on the steering wheel where he had rubbed one part of it with his hand till it was smooth, I smelled him... I mean SMELLED him.. I got like 3 sniffs... and then he was gone( I only ever get about 3 sniffs, sometimes only 2. Hate that.. I always try to smell MORE!). But he comes around a lot like that!! (although he does tend to "call" me on the phone in my dreams...I don't ever really "see" him..weird huh?) So anyway, this morning as I got ready, layer my sh*t on.. thought about my Dad , I wondered if MY smell was something that will come around to my kids long after I'm gone.... I sure hope so :-)

Perhaps "DTIEGTH-DAY" (Don't Think it's Ever Going to Happen-Day" It was scheduled for today ...and of course was canceled..but this time for a pretty good reason :)...Let's just say a "certain someone" may be FINALLY on the road to getting the help he needs...and THAT is worth canceling DTIEGTH-Day :)...
So moving on, we haven't been up to much lately...other than Pinterest. Anyone else obsessed??? LOVE LOVE LOVE it!! If you don't know what it is, go check it out! It's a virtual pin up board... instead of bookmarking the SH*T out of everything you can keep it all on your "board"!!
My latest kick its doing the majority of my dinner cooking in the crock pot..
And on Pinterest I am finding a TON of really yummy, super easy recipes! This one was so good I made it TWICE :)
Cream cheese chicken chili something or other..DELISH!
Oh and these...(not in the crock pot!)
Avocado fries...They were yummy as well!! So far all the recipes I have found seem super easy(well let's be honset..I only "pin" the easy ones!)...and that is something I like!! We have also found cute crafty things... made these for Valentine's Day..
Heart shaped crayons for the boys to pass out in class....so f*in Martha Stewart...I can't stand it!! And speaking OF MS...I also found a recipe to make my own laundry detergent...(and fabric softener)..
Yup, I had to "cook" the detergent but let me say.. it made 3 gallons for about $4 and it works GREAT!! And so does the fabric softener.. Next I'll try the recipe for dishwasher stuff.. :)
So that's it...as of today I am still "married" but things are always moving forward...at a snails pace... ;) Kids, dogs and cat are all cool...
Kids a tad crazy ;)...
